What are the allowed opening hours?
Sales outlets are allowed to be open around the clock from Monday to Saturday. Generally, sales outlets should be closed on Sunday and public holidays.
Please note the following exemptions: - Sales outlets for the needs of tourists may open on Sundays and public holidays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Sales outlets with specific goods (like flowers, newspapers and magazines, bakery products, etc.) are allowed to open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. - Specific sales outlets (like petrol stations, pharmacies, airports, etc.) may be open on Sundays and public holidays. - The Land of Berlin may permit Berlin-wide shop opening from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a maximum of 8 Sundays or public holidays per year. In addition, sales outlets may open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on two additional Sundays or public holidays for special occasions (e.g. a company anniversary or a street festival).
